Mystery Manila Libis, QC Branch
Have you ever felt that feeling of 'ugh! I wish I could do this literally!'.
Have you ever felt like, 'Oh my God, I'm better than Sherlock I'm so good in solving mysteries!'.
July 19, 2015 - This was my first Mystery Manila experience with my boyfriend, Frank (Who was still my suitor then. LOL!). Call us baduy or corny but yeah, we don't drink nor smoke so our hang out / date turns out to places like this rather than bars.
So, when we were still dating, until now that we are committed to one another, we both wanted to experience new places, food, activities and simply make our bonding time memorable. We commonly go out for a movie and try different restaurants until one day we just thought of doing something 'different'. We searched the web and came across one of those
'Top-Ten in-door activities in the Metro' and we discovered Mystery Manila.
Libis branch has 3 escape rooms during the time of our visit (now they have 4 I believe).
1. The ticking time bomb (requires you to run around eastwood) so no we did not opt for this.
2. Buried Bodies ( requires at least 3 person and one will be locked inside a coffin ) so another no for us.
3. Reversed Reality - Ahhh yes! the perfect escape room good for a minimum of 2 person with very competitive attitudes.
Lol! But yeah, we actually searched for the most difficult escape room there is and this was the result in the reviews.
Now, they have Rebecca's Revenge added to the Libis site. :)
TIP 1. - Reserve Early. During the weekends, they are fully booked so walk-in is not an option. Also, the reservation website gets full so I suggest to do the booking during the weekdays for a weekend slot. Booking on a Saturday for a Saturday slot is also not an option.
TIP 2. - Come in Early! Because if they are fully booked and you're late, it's gonna be deducted to your allotted hour and another less for the briefing. You are just wasting money if you will not use your maximum allotted time. You might not enjoy it not unless you think you can solve it in like 15 mins-20 mins. on first try. Good luck!
Another reason to be early aside from the 15 mins briefing time and deduction if you're late is parking. If you plan to bring a car and would like to park in their building, be early as their parking space is limited and they share it with other establishments.
Here are the rates by the way :
Number of Pax Price per Pax
2 550
3 500
4 450
5* 400
On your next visit, you get to get 10% off on your total bill :) You just have to answer their email survey.
TIP 3. - Bring someone you are comfortable playing, arguing(for the competitive heart haha!) and collaborating with. You would really need someone or a team who you can trust and is dedicated in winning - not just someone who came along coz you asked them to . If that's the case, you wont get anywhere in the game.
So, when the game started, we were escorted inside blind folded. By the way. we were asked to leave our stuff inside a mini locker. Then, we have 1 staff inside with us to help us when we would need it. In short, Clues!
TIP 4. - Ask for clues while budgeting your time! This was our first time so we were not ready to budget the clue asking and the 60 mins together. When you ask a clue, you'll get additional 5mins. added to your final time. So what?
If you finish within 30 mins, you get a T-shirt!
If you finish within 45 mins, you get a MM Pen!
and lastly if you finish within 1 hr, you get a ......(Drum roll) ... a nice big golden handshake! and a tap on the back for a Job well done! :)
HAHA!
Well, honestly for me or rather for us partner, having a picture that we SOLVED the mystery is more than enough :) This one is 'Almost Solved' but for the next 2 rooms we tried, we both solved it. Yey! (I'll make a blog out of those rooms too . soon. :D )The fun and frustration is just the perfect mix already to satisfy my Sherlock-inside. Mystery Manila is just simply 'Worth it'. Worth the bucks and worth the time. I have tried a different escape room game (not mystery manila) and we just felt its not worth our money. We felt like its not as well engineered as how mystery manila was. The Idea is simple but they try to make it complicated and its less embellished. Anyway, I'm not gonna name drop the place since we all have different taste and say to things so I'll just share what I think is awesome for me and just leave the bad aside unless it's really really bad that I believe people needs to know! hehe.
Anyway, we didn't solve the mystery 100% but we did reach 98% We just needed like 2 more mins and we could have solved it. Haha! No guys, I'm still not telling what it was but, A little hint is its something we needed to build that we require the little more time. But we did solved everything already and we just needed to put everything together and we are out! That's why it really didn't felt that bad because we know to ourselves that we made it somehow and we were able to go through all the parts of the mystery to solve. I mean we've handled all the 'things' and boxes and locks and clues there is so it's still worth it! The feeling of we didn't miss anything on whats inside that room to finish is fair enough! haha! :)
So guys, Thanks for reading and Im sorry if I broke your hopes of getting bigger clues or tips in solving the game but I guarantee you, It feels good to finish it on your own using your own skills and knowledge :) Plus make the most of your money! Don't go looking our for clues on the web, look for clues in the room! :)
Here's Mystery Manila's Details and I hope you guys enjoy it as much as we did! :)
